FAQ

Bridge is the issuer of OUSD. Bridge mints, burns, and holds the reserves backing OUSD. Open Standard, an independent company governed by a partner-elected board, operates the broader OUSD network.
OUSD is backed 1:1 by US dollar reserves held in short-dated US Treasuries, overnight Treasury repurchase agreements, money market funds, and cash, in a segregated account for the benefit of token holders. Reserves are held at major, regulated financial institutions including BNY, BlackRock, and Lead Bank.
Open-loop means OUSD is designed to move freely between different parties and across chains, rather than being locked within a single platform or ecosystem. This makes it useful for use cases where money is transferred between different businesses and liquidity is needed.
Reserve earnings generated by OUSD are passed through to partners, minus a small management fee for operations, rather than being retained by the issuer.
OUSD is currently supported on Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo. See the Supported Blockchains table above for official contract addresses.
OUSD is available globally, with the exception of certain restricted jurisdictions. Promotion and availability of OUSD excludes the European Economic Area and a list of sanctioned or restricted countries and territories, including Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen, and certain contested territories. OUSD also cannot be promoted for certain prohibited use cases, such as gambling, adult content, weapons, and other restricted or high-risk categories.See Open Standard’s Geo-Restrictions and Prohibited Use Cases page for the full, current list of restricted jurisdictions and prohibited use cases.
